Summer Breeze Run Raises $55,730 to Support Local Nonprofits
Clive Announced as Battle of the ’Burbs Winner
Clive, Iowa, Sept. 10, 2019—NCMIC & Professional Solutions announced that the Summer Breeze Run—Battle of the ’Burbs raised $55,730 to support the Clive Community Foundation, Waukee Betterment Foundation and West Des Moines Community Foundation. Checks were presented Sept. 9 to the foundations to support local nonprofits and community betterment efforts. Clive was also announced as the winner of the Aug. 3, 2019 Battle of the ’Burbs, which means they had the most runners supporting their community for the event.
“We are proud to give back to our neighboring communities and support their efforts—that’s why 100% of registration fees for Summer Breeze Run go back to our communities,” said Mike McCoy, CEO of NCMIC Group. “Summer Breeze Run is an event we love to host—it is a wonderful, family-friendly event for runners, volunteers and everyone who attends.”
The event doubled both the number of participants and dollars raised from 2018, with 503 runners participating in the races: 51 in the 10K, 352 in the 5K and 100 in the free Kids Fun Run. Next year’s Summer Breeze—Battle of the ’Burbs will be Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020.
The Summer Breeze—Battle of the ’Burbs run is a battle between Clive, Waukee and West Des Moines, which all surround the campus of NCMIC & Professional Solutions, sponsor of the 10K, 5K and Kids Fun Run event. Runners designate a city to run for, or they can support all three. Each Foundation also raises sponsorship dollars. All registration fees and sponsorship dollars raised support the local nonprofits these foundations benefit. The Summer Breeze scenic race is quickly becoming a favorite of runners. It’s the only race offering views of Clive Lake and the Country Club community. And, with the free Kids Fun Run, other kids’ activities, and food and beer trucks, it is a family-friendly event for all to enjoy.
