
Russell A. Vannorsdel
As Vice President of Fridley Theatres, Russell Vannorsdel is responsible for overseeing operations, budgeting, forecasting, new theatre builds, theatre remodel projects, strategic planning, banking and investor relations. His goal is to continue the success and growth of Fridley Theatres, to ensure stability and prosperity for its 500+ employees.
Russell has worked closely with city governments in efforts to build and update theatres across the state. Most recently he worked with Waukee’s administration, Mayor, and council, to plan, build, and incentivize The Palms Theatres & IMAX project. He also worked closely with the community of Muscatine to bring a new 10-plex to their community. He has worked with city administrations across the state including Carroll, Decorah, Spencer, Oskaloosa, and Hastings, NE.
Russell has a desire to lead and work with others to create a strong community. He has formerly helped communities by participating on the Nevada Chamber Board of Directors, Nevada Rotary, Pleasant Hill Chamber, Indianola Chamber Board of Directors, and Waukee Chamber. He is an active member in National Association of Theatre Owners, National Association of Concessionaires, and Iowa Restaurant Association. He also serves as the committee convention chair for North Central NATO.
Russell graduated from Iowa State University with a BA in Political Science and from William Penn with a BA in Business. He has worked for Fridley Theatres for nearly 30 years. Russell started working at Fridley Theatres as a concession stand clerk in high school and has risen to the role of Vice President.
Russell Vannorsdel, his wife Stacey, and daughter Evelynn have been lifelong Iowans. They have lived in the Des Moines metro area for nearly 20 years; the last seven years in Clive.
