Clive Community Foundation Celebrates Giving Tuesday
Foundation awards $11,500 in special grants to local human services organizations
CLIVE, IOWA – November 30, 2020 – The Clive Community Foundation (CCF) is promoting Giving Tuesday on December 1 by encouraging individuals, families, and organizations to participate. The mission of CCF is igniting philanthropy through education, advocacy, and pride in our beautiful, safe, and distinct city. Contributions made through CCF this year will fund $11,500 in special grants to two Clive area charitable organizations.
This year’s grant recipients are Clive Community Services and the Clive Lions Club. Clive Community Services will receive $10,000 to support its ongoing human service programs, which has a heightened need in 2020 due to COVID-19. The Clive Lions Club will receive $1,500 for its annual holiday basket project to address food insecurity for local families.
“It is an understatement to say that 2020 has been an especially difficult year for all charitable organizations. Families living in Clive are no different from far too many in our region who struggle to make ends meet and need extra support,” said Jane Fogg, Clive Community Foundation president. “This holiday season, we remind ourselves just how blessed we are to live in a community that takes action to address these growing needs.”
Primary areas of focus for CCF include improving Quality of Life (investments in Clive’s greenbelt, parks and trails, public art and educational programming); Health and Wellness (funding local outreach that benefits low-income Clive residents, including food assistance, nutrition and health management programs); and Community Collaboration (working with existing Clive organizations, neighboring cities and foundations).
“Since 2013, the Clive Community Foundation has raised and distributed money to many local not-for-profits,” Fogg said. “Both of these organizations are past recipients and we hope these ‘legacy’ grants help them to maintain the important work that strengthens us all.”
Fogg adds that donors can still make 2020 year-end tax-deductible contributions. Additionally, dollars invested in CCF may also qualify for an Endow Iowa Tax Credit, thereby increasing the tax benefit for the donor and extending the foundation’s reach.
