Clive Community Foundation Announces 2016 Grants
Organization provides $18,800 in donations to Clive non-profits.
CLIVE, IOWA – December 7, 2016 – The Clive Community Foundation (CCF) distributed $18,800 to seven Clive area not-for-profit organizations, completing CCF’s 2016 grant request process. The annual funding request process began in August, with charitable requests solicited by CCF to fulfill its mission to support area organizations which strengthen the Clive community.
“We are always looking for funding opportunities that improve community health and the quality of life of Clive residents,” said Jon Garnaas, board president. “These seven organizations deliver on that commitment and specifically address the Clive community’s underserved needs.”
The 2016 Clive Community Foundation distributed the grants on December 6 in a special ceremony at the Clive Healthy Living Center. The 2016 recipients include:
• Booster Pak – $1,500
• Children and Families of Iowa – $850
• Clive Community Services – $9,000
• Clive Lions Club, Holiday Gift Baskets – $1,250
• CultureALL, Culture Fair at Crestview – $2,000
• Des Moines Performing Arts, Applause Series – $1,200
• Opportunity On Deck – $3,000
The funds were distributed from three distinct CCF funding accounts.
“We are just three years old as an organization,” Garnaas said. “And while we wish we could give even more in 2016, we know that will be possible in the years ahead as Clive’s generous residents and businesses see how the precious dollars they contribute fund the important programs and causes they care most about.”
Garnaas added that for donors planning to still make year-end contributions, it is important they understand the dollars invested in CCF may qualify for an Endow Iowa Tax Credit, thereby extending the reach of CCF.
The CCF plays a key role in providing grants to non-profit organizations whose needs specifically align with the organization’s mission and priorities to strengthen the Clive and neighboring communities.
The primary areas of focus for CCF include improving Quality of Life (investments in Clive’s greenbelt, parks and trails, public art and educational programming); Community Health (funding local outreach that benefits low-income Clive residents, including food assistance, nutrition and health management programs) and Community Collaboration (working with existing Clive organizations, neighboring cities and foundations).
